Winding technique

By wrapping the damp fibers on a rotating mandrel, components are created using a  filament winding technique. During this process a dry string of fibers with a predetermined tension is passed through a resin bath and then through a guide eye onto the rotating mandrel, where the correct laminate composition is formed. For this purpose, the guide eye can be rotated around or along several different axes.

Key features and advantages:

  • high fiber volume ratio (ca. 60%)
  • optimal exploitation of fiber properties through precision fiber placement
  • High level of process automation during winding permits excellent consistency for component properties
  • filament winding technique facilitates a large variety in geometric shapes for the product
  • hybrid structures can be produced through a combination of different fiber reinforcements (CF/AF/GF etc.)
